AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as a striker. She is also captain of San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division for professional women's soccer. From 2018 to 2020, she served as co-captain for America's women's national soccer squad along with Megan Rappinoe. [8][9] Morgan was drafted by the Western New York Flash at number one in the 2011 WPS Draft. She had completed her studies at Berkeley early. Morgan also played for California Golden Bears. She made her professional debut at the club and was instrumental in helping the team win its league championship. Morgan was 22 at the time, and was the youngest member of the national team for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final game at the 2012 London Olympics. She finished 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists along with Mia Hamm as the only American woman who scored 20 goals and provide 20 assists within the same calendar year , making her the sixth and the sixth U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was an FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan helped the United States win their titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, which included her on the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
